Actually Interesting

What caught my attention is personal experience, specifically that it is the most reliable source of information about the world. We can't all depend on the news or what books tell us because although they may be reputable sources, they may have misconceptions about things. For example, a person living in Vietnam during the war could have witnessed horrific situations and the news covering it, may not have reported it. Does that mean nothing happened? Personal experience is what shapes our world views. One cannot say something did not happen if they themselves were not there. Back in the day, the news, books, magazines, as well as every other source of media were censored in other parts of the world. How do we know that even today, some of what it reported in these parts are not censored? We can only judge and assess certain situations from our own experiences or understand them through the personal experiences of others. We cannot depend on big-name news stations or popular magazines to tell us what goes on in the world. I'm not trying to slam the media because they do help to get the word out on things that happen all over the world but they cannot credit themselves on being experts on the subjects. Only those who experienced them can.

  1. It is so true. I think that personal experience is interesting. We really cannot believe what others are telling us. Television, magazines, newpapers...some of them is lies and most are just exaggerating. It will tell you what is going on in the world but some of them may not even be true. They just want you to buy a copy of their magazines for profit and what you are doing is wasting money and getting false information. I totally understand what you are saying! We just have to depend on ourselves because we are our own reliable resource. You cannot believe what others say it until you see it yourself. Your example of being in the Vietnam War is true. Reporters probably did not report it but that does not mean they did not see it. I like your “interesting blog”. :)

  2. I like how you write this post with a lot of detailed examples how the media can be cruel. The only reliable source is just our own experience and those who have witness it. The reason why I say the media is cruel because it leaves so much holes in their arguments that we may never know, except for the people involved. I remember there were news articles about people that I have friends that knew that the editor posted weren't accurate. Look at your local grocery store check out aisles and notice how many celebrities magazines that features tons of tabloids about them that tarnishes their reputation. The media seems like our most trusted source, but it's not the most accurate. Good job on the blog post, I enjoyed reading it!

  3. NDSJ91,
I totally agree with your post; I thought that this topic was interesting as well. I took a psychology class in high school and there was a topic that we talked about how eye witnesses were not the most reliable people to have speak in court because after a while they forget all the details that are important that could help solve the case. After hearing that, I thought it was really interesting and how it all of a sudden made sense. Thanks for posting this blog! It was really helpful and I liked how it allowed me make another connection for this class!

  4. I have heard so much about this product. I watch their show all the time and they are always talking about it especially on Twitter and so on. But when it comes to these types of products on losing weight, I doubt that it really works for everyone. As for “How hot can you be?” I wonder how long it going to take a person to get into that kind of shape. You can’t automatically look like that with just a pill. If you pay attention to Kim Kardashian, she is always at the gym working out and having a healthy diet. It may seem that this is a wonder pill but there are many side-effects that come from it too.
